THE GEOFF NOBES MEMORIAL 3 MILE HANDICAP WED 13TH JUNE (BRENTWOOD CENTRE FIELD)
There will be no groups on 'Trotters night' wednesday 13th June. This is the only wednesday of the year when all the groups come together to run a fun 3 mile handicap consisting of 3 laps around the Brentwood Centre field (behind the complex). A sheet will be going up shortly on the noticeboard. If you wish to run and we hope most of the Trotters will, then please put your name on the sheet as well as the group you run in
The idea of the event is to run it on a handicap system. The slowest runners going off first. Not all at once, but on a gradual basis with the faster runners starting further back. In an ideal world all the runners should be coming down the finishing straight at the same time. This never happens! This gives everyone a chance of winning the geoff Nobes trophy. It is normally won by a Trotter in one of the lower groups, but who knows.
As the handicapper, I need to check the records of all those competing, so that I can give them a handicap. This is not always possible as some members are fairly knew and have not raced before. This is where i need the help of the group leaders who can give me a fair idea of their performance level.
7.15-7.45 Collect your number (announcement area) Then check handicap time on noticeboard.
8pm First runners go off (slowest)
9pm ish Presentation in the upstairs bar (sandwiches and nibbles hopefully)
Thanks John Barker
